Veronica's Journey as a Birth Worker: Veronica decided to become a birth doula when she realized how unhappy she was with the experience of her own births. During her own births she felt scared and worried throughout them and she soon decided that she wanted to help other women ease the fear and anxiety during their births and to help them not to feel the way that she did so that they are able to have more positive birth experiences. Veronica loves comforting women by sharing her experiences of having her own still birth and working through her healing and anxiety that came with that experience. She is working towards becoming certified in bereavement doula work. meet MeradithMeradith Fraser: "Aware Birth and Beyond" & "The Mothers' Nest" About Meradith: Meradith has been a birth worker for 12 years and serves Northern Utah (Davis, Weber and Cache counties). Meradith is trauma informed and also trained in a touch therapy known as "Transformational Touch". She works with the nervous system to help others become regulated and clear developmental trauma. Meradith's Journey as a Birth Worker: "After the birth of my first and experiencing medical trauma, I knew there had to be something different. So I started on the path to learn what birth was actually supposed to be and how our ancestors handled it. I then trained and learned with 2 midwives on how to be a birth support and live assisting women on that journey. I then experienced multiple losses, and my son was born still at 20 weeks. I felt isolated and alone wanting to share and talk about him and finding it difficult to share with anyone. So I became a bearvement doula so I could sit and share with others and they would know it was safe and encouraged to do do. I experienced intense postpartum mental health issues. I was alone and didn't understand what was happening to me and when I opened up to share that I was struggling, I was told to get over it, time will heal it and even that if I didn't snap out of it, they would take my kids away. I buttoned up my mouth, didn't ask for help and just suffered in silence. So I became a postpartum doula so others would never have to go through what I did. I love the work I do!"
